État d’urgence sanitaire : Cera Engineering décuple sa capacité de production
Le développement de nouvelles collaborations avec des entreprises locales, choisies pour leurs savoir-faire et leur philosophie, a permis la production de 52 machines à masques en 2020, pour une capacité de production initialement estimée à 6.
Un savoir-faire unique à l’échelle mondiale
Spécialisée dans la fabrication de machines spéciales de soudure par ultrasons en continu, Cera Engineering était début 2020 le seul fabricant européen de machines de production de masques FFP2 et le seul à l’échelle mondiale à utiliser ce système rotatif ultrasons.
L’entreprise de 28 employés, située à Villars, réalise un C.A. de 5,5 M€ en concevant des machines à partir de modules pour les domaines du médical, du cycle, de l’aéronautique, de l’armement et de l’automobile, en France et à l’international.
Faire partie de la solution en contexte d’état d’urgence national
Avec l’apparition du Covid début 2020, Grazia Picariello, directrice générale, a été contactée par un représentant gouvernemental afin d’établir un diagnostic des acteurs du marché, d’évaluer leur capacité de réponse aux besoins nationaux et de définir une stratégie face à l’état d’urgence.
En réponse à la demande de doublement de la fabrication de machines produisant de 9000 à 12000 masques à l’heure, Grazia Picariello et Robert Combe, président, ont élaboré une stratégie de collaboration avec des entreprises de proximité qui possèdent non seulement les savoir-faire requis mais également une philosophie partagée par Cera et dans un souci de préservation de la sécurité et de la pérennité de l’entreprise.
Créer des partenariats solidaires
IMECA fut le premier partenaire de Cera au printemps 2020 : la proximité géographique, la philosophie de l’entreprise, sa réactivité et son savoir-faire constituèrent les fondements de ce rapprochement.
Cera s’appuya sur cette première expérience réussie pour ‘’modéliser’’ le schéma collaboratif et y associer de nouveaux partenaires. En valorisant la complémentarité des savoir-faire et le partage de compétences spécifiques, Cera assurant la formation du personnel, le modèle permit de raccourcir les délais de production et de multiplier les unités de fabrication de machines à masques.
Les entreprises Mécaconcept, Spoolex, SEEB Automation et plusieurs sous-traitants locaux se sont ainsi impliqués dans une immense collaboration solidaire. Une mission collective de responsabilité publique qui a permis de produire 52 machines à masques en 2020. Une véritable performance industrielle, humaine et solidaire!

Health emergency: Cera Engineering boosts its production capacity

A body of know-how unique at world level.
Specialised in the manufacturing of bespoke machines for continuous ultrasonic welding, at the beginning of 2020 Cera Engineering was the only European manufacturer of FFP2 mask-making machines and the only one in the world to use this rotary ultrasonic system.
The 28-strong company based in Villars has a turnover of €5.5m and designs machines from modules for fields like the medical sector, cycles, aeronautics, armaments and the automotive industry, for customers in France and abroad.
Being part of the solution in a national emergency
When Covid appeared in early 2020, Grazia Picariello, general manager, was contacted by a government representative to carry out a diagnosis of the actors on the market and evaluate their capacity to respond to the nation’s needs, and to devise a strategy in the face of the state of emergency.
In response to the request to double the production of machines producing 9,000 to 12,000 masks an hour, Grazia Picariello and Robert Combe, the company chairman, drew up a strategy for collaborating with nearby companies which not only had the know-how required, but also shared Cera’s philosophy; they were also acting out of a concern to preserve the security and sustainability of the company.
Creating solidarity partnerships
IMECA was Cera’s first partner in spring 2020: the company’s geographical proximity, its fast responses and its know-how formed the basis for this cooperation.
Cera then used this successful first experience as « model » for a system of collaboration and then brought in new partners. By making the most of the complementary know-how and the sharing of specific skills, with Cera providing the training for the other firms’ workforces, the model helped to reduce production times and multiply the number of manufacturing units producing the mask-making machines.
Mécaconcept, Spoolex, SEEB Automation and several local subcontractors have therefore all been involved in this vast solidarity collaboration. A collective mission based on a feeling of public responsibility that enabled the production of 52 mask-making machines in 2020. A true industrial and human performance and a great exercise in solidarity!
